About Keruko | Kelly
Profile
After graduating from university, Kelly headed to Tokyo where she spent several years living and working - and though her first blog KERUKOS TRAVELS, she developed her passion for photography and web design.
In 2005 she returned to Australia and was bitten by a bug of a slightly different kind, as she spent the Giant Black Marlin Season alongside her skipper father aboard REEL CHASE and let the stress of Tokyo melt away. Having grown up at sea with parents Jim and Anne Dalling, both keen fisher people and well-known in Australian game fishing circles, Kelly soon re-imersersed herself in the Australian fishing scene.
On board she created the widely talked about Black Marlin Fishing Blog - and began posting daily fishing reports from the Coral Sea. Her on-the-pulse reporting has seen her quoted in fishing publications along the east coast and she has become a regular contributor for the same. Nowadays, Kelly splits her sea time between REEL CHASE and KEKOA with her new husband, Captain Luke Fallon and her projects now have an overwhelming nautical theme.
Kelly has also enjoyed some success with her photographs which have been featured online and in industry magazines including BlueWater. In 2008 she produced her first photo book – Reel Chase: A Year Onboard – which is a collection of images from a typical year on board one of the busiest boats in the Australian marlin fishing fleet. Her photographs of all things fishing are also available for sale as both digital images as well as canvas reproductions.
Kelly’s freelance projects are conducted under her business name Keruko. A fond ode to her time in Japan and the nickname she carried throughout her stay there. Since 2010, she has called Cairns home.
