As much as I don’t really enjoy social media, its so necessary for business these days that I do spend a lot of time on my various networks. Privately though, I really enjoy sharing pics the way I used to share pics on my blog – back when I was a regular keruko.com blogger that is. This morning I was looking through the photos on my FB wall, looking for a particular image for a friend to use, when I noticed, it really is a photographic chronicle of your life.

These are just some screenshots of the recent images on my wall, which really do sum up my life over the past few months. Three words – fishing, cooking, photos.

No make that four – web (design, development, social networking/sharing).

Boat shots: Sunrise & Sunset

Once again its that time of year that we spend on the Western Coast of North Queensland, in the Gulf of Carpentaria. I don’t know why, but the light is simply spectacular over here at sunrise and sunset. I think its because there are no mountains blocking the rising and the setting, but I take more sunrise and sunset photos over here every day, than I do for the entire marlin season on the east coast. And a lot of boat shots in the colour at that time of day as well.

Here are a few that I’ve taken over the last few days.

I’ve also been playing with some cheap coloured graduated filters to give the shots a bit of a twist.

Shooting at Night (and the early dawn)

It is hard to take nighttime photography from a moving platform. And until recently I thought it was near impossible. But I have to credit two really awesome photographers (Josh and Jamie separately, or collectively Josh & Jamie Fishing) who I was lucky enough to spend some time with recently, for teaching me otherwise.

While I have many more days (nights) of practice ahead until I get as good as they are, here are some of my favourite shots so far. Keep in mind, they were all taken in darkness, or at least near darkness.

Thermomix: Pretzels

I’ve had Thermi for almost a week now and not a day has gone by without putting it to use.

But today was the first time to step out of my comfort zone to make something I’d never made before, with or without a Thermomix.

I followed the “Pretzels in a Jiffy” recipe to a T and they worked out great. And they even taste like pretzels. I must admit though, I got sick of shaping after a while so we have several ‘pretzel sticks’ as well!

The boys have taken a bunch with them for sustenance fishing/hunting down the channel.
